NHAI’s INR 1,040 cr Highway Construction Project in Telangana to Generate Work for Many Small Contractors

National Highway Authority of India has awarded its highway construction project contract of four laning of NH-365A from Kodad to Khammam in the State of Telangana under Bharatmala Pariyojana on Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) on M/s Adani Road Transport Ltd (ARTL).

The construction period of the project is two years, while the operation period is 15 years. With this project award, Adani Group will have a total of eight NHAI road projects under HAM and Toll-Operate-Transfer (TOT) mode in in Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala and Gujarat.

Award and execution of the above reflects Government’s commitment to build a strong infrastructure for a new and Atmanirbhar Bharat. This civil construction project will not only bring speed in movement of vehicular traffic of both passengers and goods vehicles but also will create business for many small contractors of the nearby areas.

Many small contractors in the field of civil construction and electrical erection shall be engaged in the project by the TOT contractor. As the big contractors are approaching towards asset light structure nowadays, many small contractors of T & P rental shall find business opportunity during this construction project.

Our Government is executing all infrastructure project even during the pandemic for overall development of different region of the country. Also in the current budget government, against an initial allocation of Rs 91,823 crore to highways for 2020-21, has revised the allocation to Rs 1.01 lakh crore for the highways sector for the year 2021-22 including implementation of NIP (National Infrastructure Pipeline) for infrastructure development and increase in project execution work for small contractors and Karigars. 

This type of highway construction projects on TOT basis shall create business opportunity for small contractors not only during project construction period of two years or so but also during operation period 15 years as small contractors for T & P rental, small contractors of manpower supply for O & M  shall also find business for a long period. Provisions for augmenting infrastructure will go a long way in laying a sound infra for the country. This will ensure huge business opportunity for small contractors involved in different field of project construction work. Every EPC & Tot contractors of the country are nowadays exploring the possibility of getting small contractors from nearby the project site only to avoid delay in execution of construction work due to delayed mobilisation during the pandemic.
